Tervehdys kaikille / hello world
 
I will start with Finnish, the English story will be after the Finnish text. Here is a great chance for U to learn some basic Finnish also.
 
Onpas mukava olla innostunut!
 
- Innostunut siitä intohimosta mitä kaikki uudet, joensuulaiset, ystäväni osoittavat koripalloa ja tietysti ennenkaikkea Katajaa kohtaan.
 
- Innostunut siitä panostamisesta ja tahdonvoimasta ja ennenkaikkea sitoutumisesta mitä pelaajat ovat jo ehtineet osoittaa. Vielä emme ole yhdessä harjoitelleet, mutta yhteistyö on alkanut jo 100%:sti useimpien pelaajien kanssa. On puhuttu harjoittelusta, rekrytoinnista, pelaamisesta, heikkouksista, vahvuuksista, ruokailutottumuksista... on tehty ohjelmia, ehdotuksia, tavoitteita, analyyseja.
 
- Innostunut uudesta tiimistäni. Törmälähän on jo vanha (mutta hyväksi todettu) tuttu, mutta uudet tuttavuudet Eklund, Miinin ja kumppanit ovat tehneet minuun jo vaikutuksen. Viimeisimpänä joukkoon iloiseen liittyi Ilkka Immonen kakkosvalmentajaksi. Tervetuloa Ilkka, tulet viihtymään täällä. Hommia lupaan Sinulle järjestää enemmän kuin laki sallii/sielu sietää/kukaan on tottunut tekemään, mutta hauskaa tulee olemaan.
 
- Innostunut Katajan ERINOMAISESTA maineesta ympäri Suomen ja voi jopa sanoa ympäri maailman. Suomalaiset pelaajat tietysti tietävät mikä heitä odottaa Joensuussa, mutta hyvä maine on kiirinyt jo rajojen ulkopuolelle. On aivan loistava tilanne keskustella pelaajaehdokkaiden kanssa kun he tietävät jo valmiiksi paljon positiivisia asioita seurasta ja kaupungista.
 
Rekrytointi on kaiken kaikkiaan mennyt hyvin, suomalaisosasto on juuri sitä mitä olen halunnut ja ulkomaalaispakkakin alkaa olla kasassa, paikat on täytetty/täytetään huolella mutta ripeästi. Näistä pelaajista lisää myöhemmin...
 
- Innostunut siitä konseptista mitä olemme yhdessä johtoryhmän ja pelaajien kanssa luomassa. Kataja tulee olemaan Joukkue. Kataja tulee panostamaan todella paljon puolustuspään pelaamiseen antaen hyville pelaajilleen vapauksia luoda ja toteuttaa itseään hyökkäyspäässä. Kataja tulee olemaan hankala vastustaja mutta mukava kannustettava.
 
Jos et vielä ole huomannut olen aika lailla....innostunut, tämä tuntuu todella hyvältä, kaikin puolin.
 
Pelaajani tulevat kuulemaan seuraavat kolme sanaa: discipline, Commitment - RESPECT, yhä uudestaan kauden aikana. Nuo kolme juttua kun pidämme mielessä pystyen samalla nauttimaan pelaamisesta ja joukkueena toimimisesta tulee kausi olemaan menestys. Sellainen kausi että kaikki asianomaiset, pelaajat, fanit, media, johto.... pystyvät nauttimaan ja olemaan ylpeitä ollessaan mukana Katajan matkassa.
 
In English
 
Well, my friends all over the world, here I am, at Joensuu, coaching Kataja. Or to be honest with U, I am not there yet, first it will be a little over a month with the national team, but after that Joensuu will be my home. Have a look at the map of Finland, follow the Eastern border to north.. there is my new base, located 440 km from Helsinki.
 
I have already learned so much from my new friends at Joensuu, the fire, enthusiasm and warmhearted approach to life is plain beautiful, everybody should experience this once, wow!
 
The team will be a good one (only the coach destroy it..) with a lot of quality players.
 
My starting five will consists of
- two national team players: Petri Virtanen (used to play at Solna for me 2004 or so), a 180 cm tall scoring machine and Sami Lehtoranta, a 205 cm 4man with good outside shot and an intense approach to the game
- three Americans (that is the rule here, 3xUS, no Europlayers) to positions 1,3,5.
 
I have two guys pretty much signed already which is great at this point of the year and this is a promise: We will have three GOOD Americans.
 
Our bench is pretty OK also, I will have four Youth national team players (=guys that have played Youth NT last two years) with good combination of size, quickness and skills. The bench will be much needed, for we will play 44(!!!!!) regular season games.
 
For those of U who have followed my teams lately, this team will be no surprise: Sideline D, overall the floor, aggressive, intense, tough, nasty to play against.
 
We will be a lot of things, but no matter what will take place: we will be a team, an unit that does everything it can to win. An unit that knows how to react to mistakes, knows the importance of discipline and will make everybody involved proud.
 
For those who wanted to learn Finnish and read through the text: The word Innostunut means excited, that is exactly what I am, innostunut about the new situation, new people and new team.
